The ConnectPRO DDC EDID Emulator is designed to solve the problem that computers can sometimes lose the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID). The DDC EDID data is vital for the video extension; it is a data structure provided by a computer display to describe its characteristics to a graphics card. However, when you switch or disconnect and then reconnect a display such as a monitor, you may lose DDC EDID communication and subsequently the computer may fail to display the image properly, if at all.

Now, such is no longer the case if you use ConnectPRO's VGA DDC EDID Emulator module. The ConnectPRO DDC EDID Emulator allows the user to have best video image setting all the time. Through an easy programmed process, the display's DDC EDID is memorized in the DDC module, thus preventing our customers from blank screens and boot problems as well as resolving the issue of display resolution and color due to a lack of DDC EDID information.

5.0 out of 5 stars we have a bunch and they work well, May 11, 2013 by G. O'Connor (Washington Grove, MD United States)

This review is from: ConnectPRO VGA DDC / EDID Ghost Emulator Professional Kit VGA-EDID-KITU1 (Personal Computers)

This is a specialty device, I use these in a commercial setting where high resolution monitor EDID information doesn't pass through a KVM and then in-turn the computer. The issue is that the computer woun't fully utilize the monitors resolution; the ConnectPro VGA does the trick and allows the computer and monitor to live in EDID bliss.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Fixes" older KVMs, April 26, 2013 by Randall T. Asato (Waipahu, HI United States)

This review is from: ConnectPRO VGA DDC / EDID Ghost Emulator Professional Kit VGA-EDID-KITU1 (Personal Computers)
I had a older IOGear KVM, which said was Macintosh, Windows & Sun compatible, but didn't work with 2012 Mac Minis running Windows 7 in Boot Camp. Mac OS X displayed ok...eventually, after the OS booted. But didn't show anything when booted to safe mode. And was completely blank booted to Windows 7. The KVM don't pass-thru the EDID & DDC info, which Windows 7 requires. Normally I would've recommended to the client to get a new KVM, but this being an 8-port KVM, that wasn't going to be cheap. So a few of these emulators "fixed" the KVM and extended it's useful life. And it even makes the "Macintosh compatible" KVM even more compatible since I can now see even OS X's safe mode!

If you have been having HDCP problems with your MacBook Pro this little guy will do the trick for you. The MacBook does power the emulator on it's own so no need for the included power supply.
